Tamashree Das

Tamashree Das has been project coordinator at Awaj Foundation from 2020. She has been leading the project “Improve health for worker and their children” where she coordinates and implements project activities. Beside this, she has been developing action plan, contributing in M&E tools development, monitoring and evaluating the project activities in accordance with the outputs and outcomes, generating reports.

Since joining Awaj Foundation, Tamashree has been responsible for two other projects – Hidden Supply Chains in Bangladesh – Bringing Agency and Resiliency to Informal Workers (2022-2021) & Shurokkha- Advocacy for Employment Injury Insurance (EII) in Bangladesh (2021-2022) where she has been a part of an inspection team to map the informal nature in the supply chain of the RMG sector in Bangladesh, has interviewed around 150 workers for this purpose, arranged and actively supervised workers’ training sessions to educate them on EII.

She has also co-taught trainings on prevention of gender-based violence and sexual harassment to workers inside and outside factories, and has contributed to establishing anti-harassment committees in the factories.

Her competency level increased in project management and conducting training as she received various ToT (Training of Trainers) programmes under International Training Programme from Arbetsformedlingen, ITCILO, Solidarity Centre, Laudes Foundation and many more organizations.

Before joining the Awaj Foundation team, Tamashree was already involved in social justice and human rights through student movements when she was at university. This experience led her to want to pursue this path by continuing to work in the service of people and workers. After studying at Khulna Government Girls’ College, she graduated from Rajshahi University with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature. In 2017, she later also graduated with a Masters in the same field. Awaj’s work is also very diverse and allows her to be close to the issues of women workers.
