The year 2023–2024 was a period of significant transformation, challenge, and collective action.
Workers across Bangladesh faced increasing pressure from inflation, changing industrial dynamics,
workplace insecurity, climate-related vulnerabilities, and persistent inequality. Women workers and
marginalized communities continued to experience disproportionate barriers to accessing rights,
opportunities, and safe working environments.
Against this backdrop, Awaj Foundation remained committed to strengthening worker voice and
ensuring that workers are not merely beneficiaries of development but active leaders of social
change.
Throughout the reporting period, Awaj worked to strengthen workers’ organizations, promote
decent work, advance gender equality, and provide practical services that improved workers’
daily lives. From healthcare and legal aid to leadership development, climate justice engagement,
anti-harassment mechanisms, and worker organizing, our work sought to address immediate needs
while building long-term institutional and community resilience.
