Reportedly an undocumented Bangladeshi married couple in Jordan, Md. Shahidul Islam and Ms. Taslima have been arrested consecutively on 4th & 6th February, 2022 by the Jordan police right after the birth of their baby on 4 February 2022. Mr. Islam was kept in Amman jail. On the other hand Ms. Taslima was kept in Al-Dulal jail for over a month and their new born baby had been kept separated from them to a nearby orphanage in Jordan.The new born baby and mother both were being deprived of their rights of breast feeding & affections. This is a violation of human rights and breast feeding right too.

ILO Jordan & Jordan Workers Center had reached out to Awaj Foundation with a call for supporting them. Later Awaj Foundation has coordinated with them for their updated information and immediate unification and safe return.

After the follow up, Awaj Foundation, colleagues of Jordan communicated with the police and requested the jail to free them. After reaching out to several partners, stakeholders, and individuals Awaj Foundation Migration was successful in repatriation the couple and their baby on 27.02.2022. That’s a victory to humanity and promise to safe migration.
