Climate Justice is Labor Justice
Awaj Foundation has started working on assessing impact of climate change on workers, sustainability of the industry at large and union response with newly received grant from donors.
To look into human rights impacts of ecological transition, Awaj Foundation will conduct research in the ready-made garments sector.
The purpose of the research is to find out the basic knowledge level of the workers about climate change, how climate change can affect their whole working nature, how vulnerable the workers are comparing to the devastating effects of climate change.
Climate change has increased the risk to workers’ job safety, economic growth and livelihoods. In the recent time there has been a growing focus on climate justice, which looks at the climate crisis through a human rights lens and on the belief that by working together we can create a better future for present and future generations.
