Shirin Akhter

Shirin Akhter is a Master Trainer of Awaj Foundation. She has over 30 years of experience working in
development and the RMG sector. Shirin has been working with Awaj since 2010, where she
develops and provides trainings for various projects and supervises the field trainers. She has a
Bachelor of Arts degree.
Over the course of her career, Shirin has provided trainings on a wide range of issues, including
labour law, family law, women’s empowerment, prevention of gender-based violence and
harassment, reproductive health, maternal health, neonatal care, HIV/AIDS prevention, nutrition,
primary healthcare for workers and their children, livelihoods, financial empowerment and migrant
workers’ rights.
In addition to providing trainings, Shirin has experience in developing training modules (especially on
health, gender and human rights), organizing advocacy programs at local, national and regional
levels, developing research and survey questionnaires and developing monitoring and supervision
tools.
